Ah, my favorite subject. Is it yours also? It is mine for a few reasons. Of course, the obvious is that I love to eat delicious food. Who doesn’t? Another is that I am an artist, so I thoroughly enjoy the presentation of food, even if it is strictly for my own eyes to see. I have always loved color, in general, and when you eat healthy, you will see alot more vibrant color, because of the living, nutrient-dense foods that you will choose. The other important reason I am intrigued by the food subject is because I have struggled so much with food and its affects on my body, and had no choice but to enter into a deep relationship with it, committing to understanding it for the sake of my own survival. Now, think about it: compare what I’ve just described to a relationship with another person, with the challenges one is confronted with in trying to create and maintain a healthy connection. It’s the commitment to weather the storms, learn from the mistakes, and grow deeper in the bonds that tie the two of you together. Obviously, since food is something we must have, we must get an understanding of how we work together (or not), and just as there are certain types of people and personalities we mesh with and those we do not, the same holds true with food. Then, knowing this, once you commit to building something wonderful, the payout becomes priceless, and it will have been worth every ounce of energy you’ve invested.
It really is quite clear, and equally quite simple—but not easy, by any stretch.
There are different body types, different lifestyles and different perspectives and attitudes. So, as you can imagine, it is really not safe to say that one size fits all. See what I am saying?
Here is a tool you may want to utilize as you begin this endeavor. Some people think it is hogwash, but all I know is that in my case, it made more sense that anything else had in a very long time. There is a book that delves into different body types and directs you to which foods are best for each type, so that you can provide the correct ultimate fuel for your body. Until I read this, I was ingesting foods that one would commonly consider very healthy foods, but they were wreaking alot of havoc for me, and when I was able to put two and two together—Wow! It really became crystal clear, made so much sense, and changed the course of things. Thank goodness. What a lifesaver, because I was on a downhill train travelling at high speed, about to crash.
What is the book? It’s called EAT RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE by Peter D’ Adamo. Local public libraries typically have it, so you can check it out, and then decide if you’d like to purchase your own copy. Again, you will have your own unique experience. I can only speak from my own, and for me, it truly was a turning point. It is very gratifying for me now to think that I might help slow down someone else’s train, so to speak, and set them on track to better health and a better life.
You can expect to hear more from me on the food subject ongoing, because there are countless aspects to cover, that I feel could make a difference in the success of achieving better health. Again, I do not claim to be the expert. I only want to give you “food for thought,” that you might do your own due diligence in honor of the beautiful creation that you are.
