OHHHHH, this is a biggie. Here is an area, from my observation, where I see many of us struggle. The saddest part is that most people seem so unaware of this concept on a conscious level. Would you agree? Their subconscious is screaming the idea at the individual, while on the surface, there is so much chaos and pressure that makes one scramble around expending energy, getting exhausted and still, after doing so, not even attaining the true quality of life for which the heart so desperately yearns. So, it appears we have a dilemma. Do we?
First, I think it might be a good idea to realize just how critical balance really is to quality of life. When you drive yourself and drive yourself til you are exhausted, even if the people or projects that are the recipients of your energy are deserving, you are throwing yourself out of balance in more ways than initially meet the eye. Your body gets out of balance in various ways (which is another topic for another day), and then your relationships are affected, your work loses quality, and as far as play–forget about it–there is none. And then that affects your health even more, and there you have it–a cycle.
The key here might be PREVENTION. The same holds alot of power when it comes to the Food topic as well, as I think you will see later on.
So, for now, you may want to give that some thought. Be aware of your status on this subject, and again being visual, as I am, one technique I find that works is to draw pictures on paper that are indicative of the areas of your life that are requiring your energy, in order to get a clearer view of what your life looks like now in this regard. Then draw a picture of how it could look if you made a few adjustments. The goal is to design something feasible that is at least a good starting point, that can be changed and then changed again, if need be, til you find some harmony—-some ease to take the place of the dis-ease that you may be currently creating.
Get creative, use color, cut and paste, have fun and be like a kid that is full of wonder and enthusiasm. Why not? The world is full of possibilities. Knock down those walls of limitations and get out of the ruts. Don’t let them rule your path. Create a new path. One with joy and peace and harmony–you know, those words we don’t seem to hear much of outside of the Christmas holiday season. Life is short. Make it sweet.
Great thoughts, Mary. I’ve enjoyed reading all your thoughts so far and will keep coming back for more. I think your blog will be a great help to a lot of people. Loved it!
